| Internationally acclaimed cellist Jerry Liu is a graduate student of New England Conservatory. He received a bachelor’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory and was the recipient of the ISOM Foundation Scholarship. He is known as Jerrygotcello on social media, as well as youtube. Inspired by the diverse music and venues from San Francisco, Liu continues to explore and engage with musicians from different musical backgrounds. He has recorded and performed with many ensembles around the Bay Area. By expanding his horizons, he aspires to incorporate these different forms of musical expression into his own work. As an active performer of new music, Liu frequently collaborates with composers and gives premieres for many works. Working alongside other composers also encourages Liu to develop his own approach to composition. He seeks to diversify the cello repertoire with focus on maintaining classically influenced, yet modern sounds. His pieces for solo cello, Suite 7 Days, was published in 2012, and later Calor, in 2016. Even though Liu has branched out from music and towards new career paths, he is still highly sought after to make guest appearances and perform for special events. |
